Module Essay

You have been hired by the Module Company to design their newest Programming module. How will you improve it? What will you add? What will you remove? Will you offer games? Tests? How will students be graded? Be creative and design an amazing module.
To improve last year's disaster of a module, I have crafted a new and better design to put us back in the market. Immediatley entering last year's module, you may immediatley notice that an error appears telling you that your system has crashed and will need to reboot. This has been remedied. You can now enter and see a screen. We have 64 interesting and diverse lessons about computers that our users can now... use. For the purpose of this demo, lets take the lesson that is here for the purpose of this demo. Unlike last year's message saying that Windows was not able to complete this operation, this time it does work. You now get a drab, white screen with uninteresting letters on it. In addition to this, the mouse no longer disappears and will now function properly. There are a total of 31 questions on each lesson. This is to be obnoxious because 31 is an odd number. When the student had finished his mere 30 questions last year, he would get a message saying that all of his files were lost and that he would have to reboot. This time around, saving works correctley, and there is no longer any need to smash keyboards. After the lesson, the student is graded using smiley faces. Last years usage of the percentages was unsatisfying, and left the user frustrated. We hope to please the user this year, with glowing happy faces. If the student did well, the face is content, because the face doesn't need to help. If the student sucked, the face is gleaming with joy, because it gets to keep it's job. This way, the user is not angered when he/she recieves an angry face.

I hope you have enjoyed my demonstration of our new module. Thank you and have a nice day.

Dating Website Essay

You have been hired by a prominent young businessman to design a dynamic website, specifically a dating website. He wants users to be able to create profiles, upload pictures, play games, and write messages on a forum. How will you store the information? How will you display the information? How will you create the game? Obviously you aren't coding anything here, you are just describing technologies and how they relate in a coherent whole. Discuss how the technologies will interact with each other. Pretend you are writing for a nearly computer illiterate individual.
Greetings potential www.ireallyneedtogetadatebecauseidonthaveonerightnowandimatreky.com user. My name is Derek Ybor, and I'm here to walk you through the usage of our website. Lets begin by creating a profile. Using the amazing technology found in Dreamware, you can simply type your user name and email into the the boxes that day USER NAME and EMAIL, respectivley. Once you have entered this information, press the button that says NEXT at the bottom of the page. I also put this here with Dreamware. Its all in the program.

Congratulations! You are now a user. Now you need to upload a picture so that people think you look like someone. Go to the button that says UPLOAD A PICTURE to upload a picture. Use your index finger to gently tap the left button on the little rolly thingy-ma-bob that is hopefully connected to your computer. Now you click on the UPLOAD A PICTURE button. Good. Now click the picture you want to upload. If you had to be walked through with the mouse training, I doubt you have anything in there. Just click the big OK button. There. Thats all from Dreamware. Happy New Year.

Save the Beavers.

Website Design Reviews

Site 1
Google is a simple, easy to use search engine that consists of a white screen with a type box. On top of the type box, you can help specify your search, by looking through websites, images, videos, and much much more.

Site 2
Ms Dewey is an idiotic search engine that was made by Microsoft. It consists of a woman, standing infront of a city-scape background and a type box. Further more, there is no way to specify the search, like specifically searching for images or videos. After you type in your search request, you have to wait up to a full minute while "Ms. Dewey" does or says something idiotic. During that time, you cannot type something else in the box, or quickly finish Ms. Dewey's actions. You have to wait.

Site 3
Goowy is a website that can be used for messaging, playing games, and other assorted things. Mainly the games. I suggest you get the free trial for the games. They're fun games.

Site 4
Big Beaver Lair is an amazing website that can be used to find anything on the beaver net. You can also find reviews of games and websites such as the review on bigbeaverlair.com. It goes like this: Big Beaver Lair is an amazing website that can be used to find anything on the beaver net. You can also find reviews of games and websites such as the review on bigbeaverlair.com. Wikipedia is a Wiki site of all the Wiki sites. It's main page consists of an article of the day and the search box on the left. It has millions of articles to be found, and is a great source for research.

Site 6
Slash Dot is a website that has news for nerds. It's main page consits of articles in one large column running down the page. It only consits of "peeks" at the article, and to find more, you simply click to read more.

Game Reviews

Game 1
Flash Strike is a first person shooter game that has you go through many levels while holding your "turf" and holding back the enemy. You are armed with your pistol, an M16, a sniper rifle, and several "flashbang" grenades. While the levels vary (The first level takes place in a desert town, while several levels later, you are in a winter area), the game play is repetetive and somewhat boring after several minutes. Enemies use the same paths (They just start from different points) to get to you. Its really only fun when you are extremley bored.

Game 2
Age of Castles is a simple, yet fun game that has you build up your castle and defeat enemies. The layout is simple. At the start of the game, a pop up tells you if you want more merchants (They get you gold), builders (They build up your defenses), clerics (They give you more followers), or soldiers (Self explanitory). You can easily balance them out with up and down arrows to the right of their portraits. After you click "Start Day", you are taken to the game screen, which shows various tasks being done around your castle. Over time, the castles can get new towers, walls, lands, etc. This screen only lasts for a few seconds as the "day" runs by. It simply tells you what happened in town and around the castle, and you might recieve small amounts of gold. You may also encounter enemies in which you simply choose to fight or retreat. When the day is done, you return to the popup and the cycle begins again. Age of Castles is a classic example of a fun game with a simple system that can proove to anyone that simplicity towers over complications.

Game 3
Hostile Skies is an action flying game (In WWI) with simple controls and interface. The controls are quite simple, and it is easy to fall in love with the game quickly. You simple take off from your airport and shoot down your enemy (L Mouse button). To drop your bombs, its as simple as hitting Spacebar. To move faster, move your mouse to the right. To go slower (Like for landing) move to the left. The landings may take a little while to get used to, but all in all, the game is fun.

Game 4
Bump Copter 2 is a simple helicopter game where you fly (Or rather bump) through mazes and traps to get to a red flag and proceed to the next level. The controls seem rather simple, but the helicopter movements are funky. It always feels "slippery", like I'm not going where I want to go. The little copter then bounces off the walls of the level until it explodes. Then you simply begin from the start of the level again. Its like one of those fun games from the 80's and 90's, except now its in the new millenium where better things are expected. Its not so bad, but the "slippery" controls ruin any fun that can be salvaged.

Game 5
Blob Farm is a challenging yet fun game with a seemingly simple task: keep little bouncing red blogs from being killed. Simple, right? Not when a new blob is coming in every 3 seconds, or when a giant puddle of acid is near their playing area, or when bombs, 100 ton anvils, giant beach balls, and rockets come in to crush, squash, and utterly destroy all of your blobs. If you're looking for a real challenging game that is fun, play Blob Farm. Just don't expect it to be easy after a few minutes.

Game 6
Presidential Knockout is one of those games you see come up during election time. It simply has the two main presidential candidates boxing each other in front of the white house. Under my recommendation to choose Kerry and beat up Bush, I simpy sat down, hitting the D (Right punch) key for five minutes, while holding down Spacebar (Block) to recharge my stamina during intervals. Its more of a funny game than a fun one. Its one of those games that you email your friend for a laugh, not so that he can have awsome fun. Its controls are a little too simplistic for my tastes. I really think that hitting one key for five minutes is quite boring.

Game 7
TANKS seems like one of those simple and fun games that you find and really wanna play. Its controls seemed a little more spread out than I would have liked, but I was ready to play. I go in to this large screen with pyramids in the background and see a simple, turn-based bomb game. A little dissapointed, I try using my controls to adjust the turret for a good shot. Nothing would work. After seeing my tank be destroyed (The controls didn't work), I simply exited out of the game. Good thing that worked.

Game 8
Wheels of Salvation is a simple and fun game, where you simply click to jump to the next wheel. When you reach the top, you win. You have to time your jumps, and think about the speed the wheel is turning so that you don't jump awkwardly. While simple, the game can bring hours of fun.
